Troop 186 is a parent-chartered Boy Scout troop in the Laurelhurst area of Seattle, Washington.
The troop meets most Mondays during the school year at the Laurelhurst Elementary school.

Meetings
First Troop Meeting for 2010-2011 on Sept 13
First Meeting of the Year! Scout Meeting and Parent Meeting Monday September 13th! SPL Kivimaki and Scouts will kick off their first meeting! For those parents who didn’t make the Parents’ Meeting at Sky, no worries. We will have a brief get acquainted coffee and discussion 6:45PM – 8:00PM in the library of Laurelhurst elementary while the Scouts kick off their first official meeting of the new year.

We will have a Greenbar Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 2, 6-?? pm. Here will finalize the schedule and publish the calendar for your nine months of planning pleasure. We will also plan for our Epic campout Sky Ranch!
2010-2011 Outings
Sky Ranch Campout, Sept. 11-12 2010
The annual Sky Ranch Kayaking and Camping outing will be over the weekend of September 11-12. Again get to the U. Village Safeway at 8 am to shop for your food groups. There will be emails concerning cooking, etc. Experience kayaking around pristine islands, camping and group cooking, launch water balloons at adults using giant balloon launchers while they sit casually chatting and sipping coffee, use the zip lines at night through the trees with sheer terror as your only weapon. Fun stuff like that. This is the official handoff to the 2010-2011 Team and the kickoff of the new year. The new year will be presented following tradition. Last year a meteor broke up in the atmosphere during the presentation. What will happen this auspicious year?!! More information (PDF)

Philmont Trip, July 12-25 2010
Philmont trip, July 12-25. Our BSA limited team of mainly Seniors went to the New Mexico high desert for two weeks of adventure at Scouting's premiere adventure camp. They followed the black powder route. We have re-applied for the lottery to go again at a future date.

Ski Trip to Stevens Pass, Feb 6-7 2010
The annual troop ski trip will be at Stevens Pass on February 6-7 2010. We will stay in the Stevens Pass Lodge, the Mountaineers ski lodge located at the resort. It is ski in, ski out. Dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday is included. Information on the lodge is available here.

Indoor Rock Climbing Dec 12

Camp Parsons Clean Up Weekend Nov 21-22
We will have our annual Camp Parsons Clean Up Outing on the weekend of November 21-22. Note that this is a later date than what was on the initial outings calendar. This is a great opportunity to give back to the Camp, earn some service hours and build a huge bonfire.
Sequim Bay Bike Trip Oct 24-25

Aviation Merit Badge Oct 11
Scouts will have an opportunity to earn the Aviation at the Aviation Outing on Sunday, Oct 11 2009 at Regal Air Paine Field. Details for the outing (MS-Word).
Sunrise Backpack Trip Sept 26-27
This will be an overnight hike at Sunrise on Mt Rainier. Overnight camping doesn't get any better than this. Details for the outing (MS-Word).
Sky Ranch Kayak Outing Sept 12-13
The first outing of the 2009-2010 school year will be our annual Kayak Outing at Sky Ranch in South Puget Sound, September 12-13. This outing has it all: kayaking, camping, indoor toilets, gas BBQ, and the best E ticket ride - night time zip line rides. Details for the outing (PDF).
